2 LCDs in 1: Samsung offers 22'' plus 7''

After its appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show at the start of this year, the 22'' Samsung 2263DX has hit the shops at a much nicer price than we had anticpated.

We had feared that it would retail for around 700 euros (895 USD / 550 GBP), but instead it's half that figure--a reasonable price for a regular 22'' LCD.

The reason that Samsung could easily have justified cranking up the price was the inclusion of an additional screen.

This little 7'' wonder is attached to a moveable arm and is connected via USB to computer and works just like a regular second screen.

Rather than using to extend your desktop though, the idea is to use a little extra screen real-estate to keep an eye on all those widgets that are useful but take up so much space.

It's perfect for keeping on your emails or IM, traffic stats for your website or even keeping an eye on the stock market, something that's rather de rigeur at the moment.

Because it uses USB rather than VGA or DVI, you won't need to upgrade your graphics card to work with this small extra screen, so if you've already got two screens plugged in, you'll be able to upgrade to three ...

As for the main screen, there's nothing too suprising: 5 ms response time on a TN panel, a 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution and a dynamic contrast that reaches 8000:1.

The inclusion of DVI, HDMI and VGA connectors is a bonus though.
