Acer beTouch e130: BlackBerry-Style Smartphone on Android 1.6

Acer is expanding its range of smartphones with the beTouch e130. It has a physical keyboard and a touchscreen, but its spec is really quite basic compared with many new models.

The beTouch e130 is due for release this month but, to be honest, it looks pretty rudimentary. The 256 MB of RAM will certainly help out the very basic ST Ericsson PNX6715 processor clocked at 416 Mhz. The e130 also has Wi-Fi connectivity, an aGPS chip, Bluetooth, an FM radio and a 3.2-Megapixel camera.

Although the screen (240 x 320 pixels) is touch-sensitive, the Acer beTouch e130 still offers users a full physical keyboard and a trackball for BlackBerry-style navigation.

Unfortunately this new smartphone due for release on Android 1.6, with an update to version 2.1 not due before the end of the year. Plus, there's very little chance of seeing an update to Froyo (2.2) as the processor simply won't be powerful enough to handle it.
