Today, two new compact cameras with long zoom lenses are up against each other: the Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR and the Olympus Mju 9000.

The two new competitors have share similar technical specifications: wide-angle, 10x zooms, 230 000 pixel 2.7'' LCD screens and mechanical stabilisation by moving the sensor.  Neither offer 720p HD video.  The real differences come down to the sensors, with the Mju 9000 coming with a well-known 1/2.33'' 12 Megapixel sensor, while the F70EXR has a more powerful 10 Megapixel EXR sensor.

These two new models are attempting to join a segment of the market that's already very crowded, with rival models including the Panasonic TZ7, the Canon SX200 IS, the Samsung WB500 and the Casio EX-H10 ...
