Canon S90 test shots in the Face-Off

With the S90, Canon is reviving a tradition that we thought it had abandoned a little while ago: a small, but very powerful compact digital camera. It has features that match the manufacturer's G series: manual modes, photos saved as RAW files, the same 10 Megapixel sensor as the G11 and a 28-105 mm zoom, for instance. The design, though, is much smaller and more refined.

While you're waiting for us to finish the real test, you can find our test shots taken using the Canon S90 in our Product Face-Off.

One interesting comparison is its sworn enemy, the Panasonic LX3, another expert-level 10 Megapixel compact, but this time with a slightly wider angle (24-60 mm), a flash shoe and 720p HD video, but no scroll wheel to adjust settings.

Alternatively, you can put it up against its big brother, the Canon G11, which has the same sensor, but a 28-140 mm lens that allows in a little less light, a rotating screen, a flash shoe and, most notably, very different dimensions.

We'll be publishing our test of the Canon PowerShot S90 very soon!
