The Canon Ixus 300 HS appeared in a quiet spell in the middle of the spring, and is the manufacturer's first compact to include a backlit sensor. It might not have the latest gizmos like a touchscreen display, but it does have a 28-105 mm lens that opens to f/2 in wide-angle, and has some more advanced semi-manual modes.
