Camera Review: Ixus 300 HS

At the very top of Canon's range of compact digital cameras, the Ixus 300 HS, and, like the Sony TX7—which we're testing next week—it has a 10 Megapixel back-side illuminated sensor.

The Canon Ixus 300 HS appeared in a quiet spell in the middle of the spring, and is the manufacturer's first compact to include a backlit sensor.  It might not have the latest gizmos like a touchscreen display, but it does have a 28-105 mm lens that opens to f/2 in wide-angle, and has some more advanced semi-manual modes.
