The eagerly awaited Fujifilm X-Pro1—a probable rival for the Sony NEX-7—was on show at CES 2012. We were lucky enough to have a go with it and even to take a few photos of the beast in action.
The X-Pro1—this not-so-compact interchangeable lens compact—was one of the star attractions at CES 2012. We therefore made a beeline for the Fuji stand to get a closer look.
This new Fujifilm camera is up for worldwide release by the end of February 2012. And—hold onto your hats—the camera body with a 35 mm kit lens should sell for somewhere in the region of $2,400 (£1,500)!
The body only is likely to be nearer $1,700 (£1,100), while lenses will sell individually for around $650 (£450) each (60 mm or 18 mm).
From our quick hands-on, we found that the grip handle was nicely designed and really helped us keep firm hold of the camera. However, unlike many interchangeable lens compacts, the X-Pro1 is a big, bulky piece of kit.
Above you can see the X-Pro 1 next to the X100, which gives a pretty good idea of just how big it actually is.
Fuji has loaded the X-Pro 1 with some nice features, including an updated version of the viewfinder seen in the X100 and a handy Q button for access to frequently used settings in the Quick menu.
Further along the Fuji stand we also spotted the limited edition all-black X100. Only 10,000 of these sleek black models will be released and you'll have to shell out $1,700 (£1,100) if you want one!
