The fight against illegal downloads continues. This time the complaint comes from the Association of American Publishers (AAP), allied to 17 publishing houses. In question, the library.nu site, which, in the guise of a legitimate supplier, is reported to have distributed over 400,000 electronic books illegally using an affiliated download site (ifile.it).
A lucrative business for the pirates
The advertising sales space along with various gifts made to this 'Internet library' have brought in EUR 8 million over the last year. The action against the site comes after an enquiry lasting seven months. For Tom Allen, President of the AAP, and the rights holders, the case represents a real victory and an important step in the battle against what they qualify as 'content theft'. This affair will doubtless add fuel to the fire in the debate on blocking sites supplying illegal content.
