US tech Gizmodo got a visit to the Microsoft Hardware labs, and made the most of their trip to the mouse department.  They discovered a series of innovative prototypes, including this one that has no scroll-wheel or buttons but a multi-touch surface instead.

This mouse was just the first of the surprising selection that Microsoft's engineers were showing off.  It's worth taking a look at the video, because when you see a picture of them it's hard to understand how they work.  A lot of these ideas involve not just following your movements as you slide the mouse across a desktop, but detect and track the movements of your fingers.
