Handles and straps

The soft grip handles are well-conceived. They are not too wide and are made out of the same material as the the bag. As a result, even when the bag is quite heavy, the handles do not slice into your hand. The removable strap allows you to wear it on the shoulder or across your chest but as there is no padding, you will feel the pressure after a while.

This urban-styled laptop bag by Built NY is available in a series of vibrant and distinctive colours. A nice change from the austerity that seems to rule in the land of laptop bags. But is it more of a fashion statement than a practical piece?

The inside laptop case can be removed.

This slim and stylish bag is one sturdy piece that weighs less than a kilo. It is made of polyester and neoprene to keep your laptop nice and safe. It can be machine washed (not the case inside though, so remember to take it out).

Once the laptop cosy is in the middle bit, which sadly cannot be closed but can be removed, you still have two compartments on each side. You can easily slip some magazines, a mouse, a phone ... There are no pockets to put things away separately apart from some enclosures on the central case.
This whole system is rather eye-pleasing and you can stick your business cards there or even a telephone but it has nothing to do with the compartments and pockets you get in other laptop bags.

If the « throw it all in » is a nightmare concept for you, you might want to pass. However it is very easy to find all the contents in the bag thanks to the expandable sides made of the stretchy material. This flexibility has a drawback though as the more you put in it, the more you deform the bag. A mouse bump here, a wallet bulge there: peripherals will poke through … It will not look great but will also be uncomfortable when you are wearing the bag with the strap. All these bumps will knock against your thigh or hip.

The bottom part of the bag is slightly reinforced but unprotected by PVC.
The only way to keep the bag upright is to stick it between your two feet.

If you you’re travelling longer distances with your laptop and need to carry more than a computer (cables, peripherals…), this won’t be the ideal choice. However on a daily basis, it is perfect. Thanks to its slim design you can also slip it in your travel luggage without adding any extra bulk.

The removable strap is not padded.	The bottom of the bag slightly is padded .
Small enclosures will hold business cards, cables....	The laptop is well protected.
