A line problem on the Canon G10

Following the problem of magenta photos on some G10s, resolved by a new piece of firmware, Canon have put out another warning on its star compact. The reason: lines appear on some images.

The phenomenon would seem to be largely random, the length of lines seeming to vary from one image to another on the same camera. However only models with the fourth and fifth serial numbers being 50, 51, 52, 53, 80, 81, 82 and 83 are concerned.

The correction of this phenomenon has to be carried out by Canon aftersales, at approved maintenance centres. The models that have been corrected are marked on the battery lid with a dot engraved near the hinge on the lens side (in red in the image).

Not to be confused with the markings on the screen sie (in blue) that corresponds to the factory correction for magenta images…
