Burst Mode Test

The 11.7 MB/s write speed could really be felt in the 30-photo burst test with our SLR, although the camera did slow down after the 13th shot. As a result, the card slowed the camera's burst mode down to shoot one frame instead of three.

Like Sandisk and Transcend, Panasonic now also has a range of Class 10 SDHC memory cards. On closer inspection, it turns out that they are, in fact, Class 6 cards that meet the requirements of the Class 10 category. In other words, they ensure a minimum write speed of 10 MB/s, as most SDHC cards already do.

A Class 6 card in disguise

Our test confirmed our suspicions: this new memory card is just a renamed version of Pansonic's Class 6 card. When writing files such as photos, this SDHC card's data transfer speed just managed to scrape through into the Class 10 category at 11.7 MB/s. The read speed was much higher at 18.4 MB/s.

The Panasonic SDHC 4 GB Class 10 is a fairly fast memory card, although other cards on the market offer better performances at a lower price.
