Burst Mode Test

The write speed of 11.6 MB/s made its presence felt in our test of a burst of 30 photos. After the 12th shot, our test camera began to slow down, meaning this card will slow you down to just one photo in three.
Everybody knows Samsung as a maker or monitors, cameras and televisions, but it's recently added memory cards to its selection of products, with three new ranges: SDHC, microSD and Compact Flash. According to the manufacturer, its cards are tough enough to be able to protect your memories from everyday problems and are resistant to water, shocks and magnetic fields.
So far, Samsung's range of SDHC cards is rather limited, with just Class 6 cards on sale at the moment. For this test, we used the 8 GB version.
Good speeds--but we've seen faster
As usual, we measured how long it took to copy three different types of files. We found generally satisfactory results, but we've also seen faster speeds from some of Samsung's competitors. With photos, the bitrate for copying files from the computer was 11.6 MB/s, compared to 18 MB/s on the SanDisk SDHC Extreme III 16 GB Class 6. Going in the opposite direction, the speeds are better, but still not enough to give the SanDisk card a run for its money: we measured read speeds of 15.3 MB/s for Samsung compared to SanDisk's 19 MB/s.
