A few days earlier than predicted, Bing, Microsoft's latest attempt to compete with search engine giant Google, has been launched.
For the time being, though, it's a stripped-down version of the service, and not all of the promised features have yet been released. What we've seen for the time being suggests that Bing shares the same simple interface as Google with similar options for searching photos, maps and so on, but also includes a few extra tools.
We tried a few sample searches for our favourite queries ('GPS', 'compact cameras', 'HD TV tests' and so on), and it does seem to work. For the time being though, our first impression is that the results are going to need a little polishing before we make the switch.
