MSI Toast PC: the computer that wont make your breakfast

MSI recently showcased its highly original Toast PC; a compact PC with a striking resemblance to a toaster. But don’t worry, it may well burn your DVDs but it certainly won’t toast them.
The Toast PC is MSI’s prototype for an innovative nettop PC, complete with slot-in DVD drive that swallows up discs just like slotting bread into a toaster (see photo). MSI’s designers have really gone to town on the design, poking fun at the often-made comparison between toasters and computers (or games consoles) that consume large amounts of power. In fact, the toaster theme has clearly been chosen with a hint of irony, as this mini PC is about the size of a typical ultra-low-power PC, known as a nettop (check them out in our Product Survey: mini PCs).
The Toast PC’s configuration is yet to be announced, although we reckon it’s likely to be based on an Intel Atom CPU. There’s no word of a release date yet either, as the prototype is still awaiting approval.
