Intel's PineTrail CPU platform is off the blocks and is appearing in more and more new netbook computers at the start of 2010. The new Atom N450 processor is in all of Samsung's new range, which has just been officially launched. On offer is a new look and yet more battery life.
We already knew about the Samsung N150 and N180, which have similar specs, but two new models have also been announced, and once again, they're pretty similar. The N210 and N220 are both based around the Intel Atom N450, 1 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. The 10.1'' LED-backlit display has a 1024 x 600 resolution, and it's still got a matte surface to prevent reflections. All of the below models come with the Starter version of Windows 7.
These new models will be available from the 18 January onwards, apart from the rugged NB30, which will only appear in March. We're looking forward to some solid netbooks that are great to use, just like their predecessors from Samsung. While the back of the screen is still glossy, it now uses a material that should avoid too many greasy fingerprints.
All that's left is to hope that the prices will be reasonable and that Samsung will have made some progress with the colours and contrast available on its screens.
