Pranav Mistry Presents the Invisible Mouse

You may remember the impressive Mr Pranav Mistry as the inventor of the SixthSense wearable gestural interface, showcased earlier this year. Well, Mistry's been at it again, and seems hell-bent on turning our material world into a virtual environment.

In the past, Pranav Mistry has demonstrated how pico-projectors could be used to turn your forearm into a mobile phone keypad. In fact, he showed that pretty much any surface could be used for data entry.

This time, he has created an invisible mouse! Actually, it's more than just invisible, as materially, it doesn't even exist. The system uses two video cameras and some customised infra-red webcams to track the movement of your hand and then move the on-screen cursor accordingly. In the video below, you'll see he moves his hand from left to right on the desk and the cursor follows. Then, one tap on the table is one click and three taps on the table is three clicks.

Check it out in this video (hint: it's even better if you launch it in 720p).
