There are four different versions of the X544. We tested the X544dn, which is a colour multifunction laser with network connectivity and automatic double-sided printing.
> Test: Lexmark X544dn
- The X544n is identical, but it doesn't have offer double-sided printing.
- This X544dtn is a bigger version of the X544dn with an extra paper drawer to increase its total capacity to 900 pages.
- The X544dw gains its w because of its support for WiFi.
> Test: Lexmark X544dn
Pluses
-
Good printing speeds
-
Automatic double-sided printing mode
-
Compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux
-
Good contrast
Minuses
-
Scanner quality
-
Colours too dark
-
Uses a lot of power
This is a good printer: not necessarily the fastest, but it's cheap to run and produces good quality output. It's not really a good multifunction printer though, with the poor scanner having a knock-on effect on the quality of copied documents, too.
