The Samsung SyncMaster F2380M is a monitor that has already got a solid reputation: it's been in our top five most-read tests almost every week since we tested it back in November of last year. But that was six months ago now, and there are constant changes in the world of monitors. That's what prompted one reader to ask if we still think it's a good buy:
First of all, thanks for getting in touch! Questions like this from readers really us know which products you're interested in and help us plan what to write about in the future.
Now, to answer your question as briefly as possible: yes! We are more than happy to recommend the Samsung F2380M, and our editor uses one every single day and is very happy with it.
That said, it's by no means perfect for everything, and in particular some gamers might find that it isn't the absolute fastest. However, as you're looking to do graphic design and more general tasks, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. As an aside, when picking out products, it's absolutely essential to mention what you're planning to use them for, as it's rare to find products that are good in absolutely every regard.
If you do buy one, then we suggest you read our advice about how to configure it properly. There are a number of problems with the factory settings, which might well be why some other reviews you've read didn't like it as much as we did. Once you've followed our instructions, though, you can improve on the response time and end up with a great monitor.

| Subject: F2380 Hello First a big thank you for the site, it's been very useful over the years, I generally find your reviews far more comprehensive and objective than most other sites. I have been reading your review of the F2380 which you rate very highly. I have read lots of other reviews which don't seem to hold it in the same regard. As I'm in the market for a new budget monitor for use with design work and general all round use I was wondering if you could still recommend this? Thanks, |
