Technically, these 2 satnavs are based on the same hardware. The screen on the 1490T is however a little larger and you can programme the different stages of your journey in advance.

Hardware: a nice legible screen

With its 5-inch matte screen, the Garmin nüvi 1490T offers nice legibility, even in full sunlight. You gain in terms of comfort on the 4.3-inch 1390T screen.

Design and build: slim but wide

The 5-inch screen obviously makes this a bigger product. It is still pretty slim however at 16 mm. On the other hand the 1490T does weigh 60 grammes more than the 1390T.
