In spite of their faults - dark lower angle of vision, lack of colour homogeneity - TN panels are still chosen for the majority of monitors. Doubtless you can guess why: pricing. Good news for those who can't stand TN technology - competitively priced IPS screens are starting to hit the market.

LG W2220P

Take the LG W2220P for example, that you can find for as little as £150. For those of you who missed the test, it combines design, responsiveness and accurate colours (after reset) and gets a 5-star rating.

Another example from HP, the ZR22W. Its tech spec looks similar to the Dell U2211H. In addition to the panel technology it has VGA, DVI and Display Port connectors as well as a base you can adjust vertically and is mounted on a platter with a 4 port USB hub. A star screen for under £250. Lets hope HP send us one for testing soon!
