Asus has just launched its first portable DLP/LED projector. The P1 is compact (125.5 x 130 x 33.5 mm), light (450 g) and projects images in a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
The tech specs announced by Asus look pretty interesting. In fact, with a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and brightness reaching 200 ANSI lumens, they look pretty impressive for a projector this size.
The 1.16:1 throw ratio means the P1 can display images of around 40 inches (100 cm) in size at just one metre's distance from the projection surface. From three metres away, the image reaches 120 inches (304 cm).
Connections are a bit less impressive, however. The P1 only has analogue entries (VGA and S-Video), and the lack of HDMI input makes it a whole lot less appealing in today's market.
The P1 should be hitting stores at the end of February. UK pricing is still to be confirmed but it's been announced at €459 (£385) in Europe.
