After inviting Andrée Putman and Martin Szekely to design photo frames, Parrot now shows off new speakers, in collaboration with Philippe Starck. The Zikmu - Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, speakers for iPod and iPhone, are a result of a 3 year collaboration between the French manufacturer Parrot and the designer Philippe Starck.
To some they may look like two upside down trumpets or evoke the famous TamTam stool of the seventies. The Zikmu have an integrated iPod/ iPhone dock on top of one of the columns, which are 75 cm high.
The remote control sits on the top of the other column and has the exact size of the top part,a memento to remind you not to misplace it. The whole minimalist unit has a shiny gloss, which may appear too plastic-ky to some.

There is only a power cable for each, so you can position them anywhere you want. A part from using an Apple device, you can also stream music from your computer or telephone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
The sound is clear (100W) and seems to come from…everywhere. Indeed thanks to "an extra-flat membrane which creates small-scale vibrations across its entire surface,” the Zikmu deliver a 360-degree immersive sound.
The little piece of luxury will cost you £1200.
